Lead Legend designer Josh Mohan explains developers aims for players to experience empowerment — even those who are inexperienced. "Our community performs advanced techniques like super-gliding and tap-strafing, and we looked around at our competition, observed what our players are doing, and we said, 'What if we provide these capabilities to a broader audience?'" the designer clarifies. "Because right now, some of these advanced [movement] mechanics are somewhat awkward to use — it requires to remap your keybinds and execute within precise timings. So we said, 'What if we create a more official version?'" Season 27 Movement Focus Mobility is primarily the name of the game in Season 27, with characters the gravity mage, Rampart, and the aerial combatant receiving enhancements to maintain them in motion. Her defensive walls now include overhead protection and capability to provide speed boosts to allies in range. "I think there's quite a consensus that her moment is here," says Legend designer the designer. "Certainly that she's been dominant in the past, but due to the addition of new Legends, movement[-based] passives, and redeployment tools, it felt like she's not very relevant in today's the game. It was an ideal chance for the team to reexamine multiple elements [of her kit] and essentially bring her back to former prominence." Enhancements to the Aerial Legend To restore Valkyrie's relevance in current strategies, the developer notes the team assessed each of her abilities and introduced significant changes. Her VTOL Jets have been upgraded, increasing her speed while airborne, and this equipment regenerates much quicker, enabling her to remain longer in the air. She can no longer take damage from her ultimate ability, which was enhanced to tag opponents who are hit from it. Her Skyward Dive skill — which lifts her entire squad skyward for redeployment or retreat — now takes much less time to activate.
