Miami scored eighty-six opening half scores against the Grizzlies

The Heat earned a crushing 146 to 114 win over the Grizzlies in their first NBA match since guard Rozier was arrested over suspected illegal gambling.

Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a sweeping federal probe into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the claims.

But, the Heat were focused as they recorded 86 first-half points to be ahead of the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the biggest halftime lead in the franchise's 37-year existence.

Adebayo top-scored with 24 points and afterwards said Rozier had the team's full backing.

"We support him. Full support," Adebayo stated. "We are with him all the way. He's like family ultimately."

Heat coach Spoelstra commented: "Terry is somebody who is important to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he faces this."

Portland also won their first game after the detentions, with Brazilian Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Billups' non-attendance and guiding the squad to a convincing 139-119 win over the Golden State Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Billups and how he coached," Splitter said. "Our thoughts are with him and his family but we have a job to do."

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' over Arrests

Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "very upset" by the events of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I felt uneasy. It was disturbing."

Silver further mentioned an league probe into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We then looked into the matter and were open about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can take various actions that the NBA is unable to.

"Therefore, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a compromise in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."

Elsewhere, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic recorded over forty scores for the consecutive match in a row to start the season.

After racking up forty-three points in a season-opening loss to the Warriors, the European star achieved 49 points - to go with eleven rebounds and eight assists - as the Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 128 to 110.

Greek player Giannis Antetokounmpo also had a big night with thirty-one points, twenty boards and 7 assists in the Milwaukee Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Toronto Raptors.

Rockets were beaten 115 to 111 by the Detroit Pistons even with thirty-seven scores from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, 11 boards and 9 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' extra-time victory against the New Orleans.
