A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended jail terms of up to eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has still to be made public.

A persistent conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's gender.

Their complaint states that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.

Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she taught at his lycée.

The couple entered into matrimony in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
